WARRANTY - PLEASE READ Our business is mail order. We are unable to deal with the problems in fitting of electronic or mechanical component parts, especially due to incompetence (even especially, it seems) by dealers. And so in case of damage by fitting our policy is that no warranty can be implied or given.
We have had a few cases of Smart/Mercedes dealerships condemning a steering wheel, just because the mechanic found difficulty to read and carry out the first instruction - to change a wiring plug over from one connector to another. And charging a fortune for the so aborted job.
Claims of "cannot be coded" when being done by a back street and not main dealer are not accepted, too many people claim to have the knowledge (ex merc mechanics especially) and the software, but it is not the RIGHT knowledge or the RIGHT smart specific up-to-date software (i.e. case of miss Swift, Cumbria (SAM unit), who after very heated exchanges about how her "fitter" had all the knowledge and equipment, then under some duress brought her roadster 90 miles to Smart Newcastle where there was found to be nothing wrong with it and it was programmed immediately).
If any genuine problem fault is found to exist, and the part had been bought in by us within the previous month from a smart/mercedes agent, we will offer to help - in this respect the return process for Smart/ Mercedes is always that customer must return the part back so it can be sent away for inspection, to decide on liability for replacement/refund, which could take some time. Smart/Mercedes decision in this respect is final. In all cases of components having been opened, modified, painted, coded, security labels cut/removed/ destroyed, these actions VOID ALL WARRANTY - this should be obvious but has proved to be otherwise to a small number of people. We will not also accept anything back if it appears not to be the part that we supplied - Mr Richards - cd changer; Mr Turnbull - steering wheel; Mr West - already coded old sam unit; Mr Hitchins - wrong turbo sent back; and Mr Fester, Florida who tried to pass off that his new speedo we supplied was already coded to another 451 already in the USA in Califoria - the mind definitely boggles. |
